I'm glad I chose South Side Specialties to do our small patio. The end result looks really nice and completely suits our needs for years to come. Although the project didn't go as smoothly as we all would've liked, South Side Specialties was always very pleasant and responsive and didn't leave until we were 100% satisfied. At the beginning of the project, we had a hard time visualizing the different options for our space. Luckily South Side Specialties helped show us different options through 3D design. If it wasn't for the design and being able to see the options, I don't think we would have been as happy with the end result. This was an extra service but totally worth it for us. The design team was creative and worked with us to fine-tune exactly what we wanted.

The project itself was straightforward. Unfortunately, the team messed up the slope and water was pooling on the patio. This was frustrating and stressful for us but we all have to remember that no company or person is flawless. South Side Specialties owned up to the mistake and re-did the patio. The commitment to excellence even after the project was completed is very telling of an outstanding company that stands by its work and does the right thing.

Almost a year later, Jeremy and his company helped us in an emergency situation. Without any prior notice, the electrical company showed up digging in my yard with the intent to remove part of the patio to repair an electrical line. I contacted Jeremy about this emergency and he quickly showed up and properly took control of this situation. I’m so glad that even in my panicked state I thought clearly enough to call him because it honestly saved us so much possible damage and he properly removed and replaced all the pavers. Our patio looks as if nothing ever happened and now I have peace of mind that the patio is still properly installed and ready for when I’m able to install the deck. This is an amazing company.

I have had three projects with Southside and the experience for all can be summarized in one word - Excellent!! The latest was a walkway to access our rear patio (Southside project from a year ago) to accommodate my wife who is now wheelchair bound. Not only was the walkway done on time, within budget and beautiful, but they made it slope gradually so my wife would not have to deal with a ramp at the end.

South Side created a beautiful stone wall that sets off a large parking area on our property. Jeremy suggested incorporating lighting into the structure and I love having that area lit up starting at dusk and throughout the night. The guys on the work team were professional, the job site was always left in good order and Jeremy really is out to please his clientele! I give them a great rating because they deserve it.

Exceptional place to do business.

Jeremy and his team did a great job fixing the drainage problem we had in our backyard by installing a 150ft long french drain. They regraded the land to smooth out the surface and direct water towards the new drain, laid down new grass seed and straw to prevent erosion. That evening a huge storm came through and washed away some of their work. Jeremy and his team quickly came out and fixed what the terrible weather had caused. We recently had Southside Specialties install flagstone on our porch and walkway, and we are delighted with the results. We had approached three companies with our needs, and what Southside proposed was perfect for us. What's more, they were the least costly. Southside was very easy to deal with. Because they do a lot of work in this area, they are very familiar with what the LRPRA HOA will approve, and they designed our job with that in mind. They even put together the LRPRA paperwork package for us so that we merely had to sign and turn it in. Approval came quickly, probably because of the Southside's track record of doing quality work which enhances the appearance of the property. After the porch and walkway were done, we liked the outcome so much that we had them do a follow-on job, building a matching stoneware wall around our shrubbery area to replace an old wall, and replacing some bushes which were no longer what we wanted. This involved adding mulch, and when they found that they had some mulch left over, they edged and mulched our side shrubbery area at no extra charge. They cleaned up the work area thoroughly at the end of each day. Every member of their crew was courteous and helpful when we had questions. If we have another job within the scope of what they do, absolutely we will go back to Southside Specialties to get it done.

It was definitely showing its age and they added and repaired stones, fixed grout that crumbled and did a power / acid wash that made it look brand new. South Side did an amazing job on my yard. I got some trees cut down and the ground was too hard to grow grass. The area was bumpy and uneven as well. I asked South Side if they can make that area grow grass and even out the yard. Well, Jeremy and his crew did not disappoint. They saw my vision and went above and beyond. For the past three years, we’ve tried everything we could to get grass seed to grow in our front yard. But between a bad slope and improper drainage, we finally had enough. We had initially tried a different landscaper but after their initial estimate came in at double our budget (after we paid an $800 design fee), we looked elsewhere and came across Jeremy South and Southside Specialties. From the onset, we couldn’t have been more impressed. Jeremy knew exactly what the costs would be based on our desires. Once the project got started, his team was very professional and very expedient. As things progressed, we changed and altered a couple things and Jeremy was all too accommodating. Between the sod, retaining wall, and proper drainage, our front yard is now the pride of the neighborhood and I’ve had several neighbors ask who did the work. I couldn’t recommend Southside more.

Excellent service!!! I made an impromptu to request to remove a dead tree in my backyard. They were working on a neighbor's yard but said they would definitely take a look. The crew arrived the following morning and within 1 hr. removed the tree and all debris. I would definitely recommend.

We lost a part of a tree during high winds. I requested estimates via Yelp and South Side Specialties responded quickly. They provided a reasonable estimate on taking down the remaining part of the tree and removing the stump. They were also able to complete the job the same day. They removed the tree, the stump and cleared all the debris. Jeremy was very easy to work with and he and his crew were very capable and professional. We would definitely call on them for future projects.

1) Super responsive. Jeremy contacted me within hours of my email. Other landscapers took days, never got me estimates, or didn't respond at all.
2) Really listened to what I was trying to accomplish and worked with me to figure out how to get there. Jeremy didn't try to tell me what I should do or want- he made sure he understood what I wanted, and made suggestions that could accomplish that.
3) Reasonably priced and efficient. I got a better product for less than I paid previous landscapers. Jeremy and crew showed up on time and got work done quickly and thoroughly.
The scope of the work I had done was pretty extensive- major tree pruning, sod installation, retaining wall/flower beds, spring clean-up, removal of overgrown bushes, installation of plants, concrete pad poured, and installation of a large natural stone drainage system (tying into existing drain system) to accommodate the beautiful natural slope of my yard that backs on to a green space with drainage to the marina. Previously, rain would funnel directly across my yard, dragging debris and piling it against my fence, and keeping grass from growing. Thanks to Jeremy and his exceptional crew and vision, water is funneled away from my yard in a form that's lovely to look at, and I have a yard full of grass for my dogs to enjoy.

We loved his ideas and he promptly sent us an estimate for this project as well as some landscaping upgrades we discussed. They started work two weeks later. Started on a Monday and finished by Friday. He and his crew did a wonderful job! They buried downspout drains, regraded a section of our yard and put in a beautiful stone walkway. They replaced mulch in all of our beds and our yard is now spring ready! Can’t recommend them enough!

Excellent service! These guys removed 2 LARGE oaks from my front yard in one day in a timely manner. They were on time and professional. I've had different work done by different tree folks and they've left large dents in my grass of torn up turf by falling limbs and leaves and chips everywhere, not these guys though. 5/5.

I've done a few things to our home and back patio clean and front mulching and I'm going to give Jeremy and his team 5 stars because they were very professional in responding to a service request also really working hard all day long specially in the hot summer time.. Jeremy and his crew did an amazing job with my front yard. I had a bunch of bushes that were out of control and a tree that had limbs all over. You really couldn’t see my front door. The landscape team with South Side specialties did such an awesome job on our front and backyard! I feel like we have so much more space in our yard and it just looks so clean cut. Not only did they cut down trees, trim limbs off of others and pull weeds; but they also mulched as well. They were able to finish the work in an efficient time frame and constantly checked-in with my husband to see if he was happy with their progress. Jeremy and his team are amazing! They went above and beyond! I wish I had before photos... they pretty much demolished a forest full of dead trees and bamboo and turned it into a beautiful backyard. They mulched, removed weeds and trimmed everything in front. It all looks so beautiful. It was a surprise for my girlfriend and she was blown away! Jeremy was extremely communicative during the whole process and even removed all the yard waste all for a very reasonable price. I highly recommend for any and all landscaping services!

Jeremy came out the very day we called and came back with a reasonable estimate the next day. We had an out-of-control crab apple tree and he agreed to take care of it while we were on vacation. When we came home, our tree was beautifully pruned and there wasn’t so much as a twig or leaf of debris in the yard. I’ve never needed a tree guy before, but now that I’ve found one, no need to look further than South Side Specialties!
